Title: Wardenclyffe Tower 2
Medium: Oil on canvas (hand-worked), ready to hang

Origin. This painting began as an architectural whisper — a recollection of ambition, transmission, and quiet power. I imagined a lone tower rising against a subdued sky, not as a monument, but as a conduit: part signal, part meditation. The canvas started with simple tonal washes, then built slowly into form: the tower emerged not in bold strokes, but in patient layering — a structure grown rather than imposed.

Composition & process. At center stands a soaring vertical form: a slender shaft grounded by a base of muted earth-tones and anchored by geometric clarity. Around it, broad fields of soft greys, smoky blues, and faint umber haze unfurl, suggesting atmospheric space — not a harsh sky, but the breath of air around a solitary structure. Subtle glazes and delicate edges allow light to shift gently across the surface; thin veils of paint carry hints of earlier decisions, like the echo of a signal fading and returning.

Storyline (in my voice). I pictured the tower at dusk, when the last light lingers but the air is calm. The structure carries hope — not triumphant, but quiet: a testament to reaching, connecting, waiting. I painted it as though listening for a call at the edge of night, aware that silence can be as charged as sound. When the final glaze settled, the painting felt less like a statement and more like an invitation: to imagine, to listen, to become aware of the space around you.

Viewing notes. Step back and let the tower rise softly against the sky field; let your eye rest on its vertical purity, then drift across the surrounding haze — the layers of atmosphere breathe as you move. Up close, permit yourself to see the subtle shifts — gentle edges, thin glazes, paint that seems to hold a quiet pulse. The work asks less for attention than for patience; its mood deepens the more you return to it.

Collector highlights

  • Architectural minimalism with atmospheric depth: The tower rises with near-architectural precision, but is softened by moody tonal fields — a rare balance between structure and emotional subtlety.

  • Symbolic resonance: The vertical form evokes ideas of transmission, connection, and quiet ambition — giving the piece a conceptual presence that carries beyond purely visual appeal.

  • Refined chromatic restraint: A palette of smoky blues, greys, and muted earth tones ensures the work works harmoniously in refined interiors — ideal for minimalist, modern, or contemplative spaces.

  • Surface that rewards contemplation: Layers of glaze and veiled passages reveal themselves gradually, allowing the painting to evolve in the viewer’s perception over time.

  • One-of-one, studio-original: Unique oil on canvas, signed and documented by the artist, with no editions; the painting becomes entirely the collector’s once acquired — a private refuge, a singular statement.

  • Anchor piece for serious collections: As a mature work with conceptual weight and quiet composure, Wardenclyffe Tower 2 offers a foundational element for any collection focused on contemporary abstraction and refined spatial thinking.
